4/6/2023 0 Comments Warren demartini guitar rigWhen I plugged in my Marshalls into a half stack with period correct cabinets from the 67 - 70 zone I was shocked. Now that stands as fact, I can comment on the life experience I had. I really believe that the tone George had out of that amp in Radio City Music Hall was one of the greatest sounds I have ever heard. So funny how such a great amp can sound so different. The guy was picking up Slash off the floor, yet threw down major dollars for this particular amp. Woodie, The Caswell Marshall Mod laden amp top was supposedly rented until the point of the owner being thrown mega bucks by who else ? The manager from Guns and Roses. Talk about a slave to the grind, what a shit life and your purple you find out before you burn down, what is this slave of thrones? I'm sorry jus having fun I heard recently he blew up Aspen Pitmans beloved Purple Marshall, he he, that was just a matter of time. He needs to hang with Gilmore for a pint and just slow down. His note selection when you get down to it is scary sometimes. I have to say George is one of the best, except he gets too amped up and gets too hyper. Shit, that poor guy had tough luck sounding amazing through everyone else's rig. George had a Caswell modded Marshall he rented for the tour. Outdoors on the water near naval ships and girls for miles. Saw Warren outdoors at Jones beach NYC and his solo took the house down with that damn Marshall. Whatever, I have never heard a better tone sinnce George live warm up sound check in Radio city mucic hall NYC before the under lock and key tour wit twisted sista. I heard rumors it was Warrens head on breaking the chains too. George use to plot and scheme how to get it, he actually thought of buying one similar and swapping head boxes on Warren ,even thought of just stealing it break and entry style No joke, he was under the spell for sure. It was so good that George Lynch use to borrow it as often as possible. Warrens plexi was used as THE prototype for the reissue super lead plexi Marshall bro. You just go out and play and do some things we've never done before." Read the rest of the interview here.Jdub. With Warren, I think we always kind of would've been on the razor's edge thinking, 'Well, is this working?' 'I don't like what's being done.' This way it's just so easy. "Once you're so comfortable with the people in a band, you can take those other chances, and that's really what happened. We sorry for Warren that it didn't work out, but we are very happy to have Craig back with us. Luckily for us, Craig had his things sorted out and it made life much easier for us. We're the ones who created these things and we are the ones who had to carry on. I couldn't speak for how Warren felt about it, but it wasn't down to him, it was down to us. It just didn't work and none of us were very happy about what was going on. We tried to deal with it for three weeks actually. In a different band, his talent will shine, in this band, it will not. That's not to take away anything from his talent. He didn't really have a handle on what was going on. None of us felt that he was giving to what these songs are all about. He doesn't work in the same way that we do. He was just the wrong player for the band. Warren came in and he had to learn all these things. We like to rehearse, but we don't like to nitpick and teach somebody every little nuance of the song, and that's really what happened with Warren. "Having committed to something, I'm never one to say, 'Oh we just won't do it.' Well we thought we had a few months to put this together and play some of these songs we haven't played before and I was thinking, 'I hope we get the right player.' The hardest part is working with a guitar player who hasn't played the songs before, while we've been playing some of them for 25 years now. "Well, we had already committed to the MAIDEN tour and for the festivals," Dio explained. However, before Warren even got a chance to set foot on stage with the band, he was replaced by former DIO guitarist Craig Goldy. While the CD featured Doug Aldrich (now in WHITESNAKE),an announcement was made earlier this year that ex- RATT axeman Warren DeMartini would be touring with the band during the summer. DIO mastermind Ronnie James Dio recently spoke to about the group's numerous changes in the guitarist department since the release of their last album, "Killing The Dragon".
